The Caterham Racing GP2 team is thrilled to see their 2012
driver Giedo van der Garde graduate to Formula One with the
Caterham F1 Team for the 2013 season.
Caterham Racing enjoyed six podiums and two race wins in GP2
last season at the hands of the Dutch driver. Giedo is no stranger
to the Caterham F1 Team car, having been appointed 2012 Reserve
Driver and completing six FP1 sessions while contesting the GP2
Championship. The 27 year old has been fully integrated into
the Caterham F1 Team and will partner former GP2 racer Charles Pic,
further cementing GP2 as the ultimate stepping stone to Formula
One.
Caterham Racing is preparing to announce their 2013 GP2 driver
line-up, before the first outing of 2013 at the official test in
Jerez on February 26th.
Caterham Racing Team Manager Phill Spencer: "As
Team Manager of the Caterham Racing GP2 team I am very proud to see
Giedo step up to Formula One this year with our sister team
Caterham F1.
We run our GP2 Team not only as an excellent place to nurture
young talent in GP2, but also as a platform to incorporate drivers
into the Caterham F1 Team. Giedo is a prime example of what is
possible if you have the drive and commitment to reach the pinnacle
of motorsport. He is a quick driver and a consummate
professional. We wish him the best of luck and look forward to
seeing him in action."
